Programme Note
Join the North Herts Guild of Singers, The Beaufoy Players and an array of dazzling young soloists on the 5th November for a feast of all things Mozart. The centrepiece of the concert is his well-known Requiem, famously written on his deathbed and complete with stunning displays of harmonic and contrapuntal invention as well heart-achingly beautiful melodies that are made all the pertinent given the situation of composition. The Requiem is contrasted with the buoyant and vivacious setting of the ’Solemn Vespers’ which include the beautiful ‘Laudate Dominum’ for solo soprano which has, quite rightly, earned a place in the soprano aria hall of fame for its exquisite sense of line and intimacy.
