Programme Note
The ensemble play works by Mozart and Schonberg. The original score of the Sinfonia concertante was lost, and there are doubts about its authenticity. It is possible that an arrangement was done based on the orginal wind parts.
Verklarte Nacht was inspired by Richard Dehmel's poem (1896) of the same name. The work is richly chromatic and shows the influence of Wagner's Tristan and Isolde. The use of a dominant 9th chord in its last inversion caused some controversy as it couldn't be found in any harmony book.
