Programme Note
A fantastic catch for the Petworth Festival, Mitsuko Uchida is one of the most revered artists of our time, known as a peerless interpreter of the piano works of Mozart, Schubert, Schumann and Beethoven, as well for being a devotee of the music of Alban Berg, Arnold Schoenberg, Anton Webern, and György Kurtág. She enjoys close relationships with all the world’s most leading orchestras, whilst conductors she has worked closely with include Bernard Haitink, Sir Simon Rattle, Riccardo Muti, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Vladimir Jurowski, Andris Nelsons, Gustavo Dudamel, and Mariss Jansons.
For her Petworth concert, she performs Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations, the monumental work that stands alongside Bach’s Goldberg Variations as one of the two greatest sets of variations for piano ever composed.
*The performance will be available to view online (using a viewing token) for 48hrs after the advertised start time.
