Siegfried 2019, The Audience Club
THE GAFA Arts Collective returns with an OUTSTANDING LINE UP OF SINGERS AND ORCHESTRA in a concert performance of Wagner’s opera
In Siegfried, the opera’s eponymous hero forges a mighty sword, slays Fafner the dragon, winds up in possession of the cursed Ring and frees the sleeping Brünnhilde from an infernal mountain-top banishment.Siegfried is part three of the Ring Cycle; a timeless Nodic moral drama about love, power and corruption.
Siegfried, will be an opportunity for the Samoan arts collective only to present this wonderful piece in concert, but also to explore the mythologies that connect cultures. The sword forged by Siegfried, 'Nothung' finds reflect in the Samoan sword/knife, the Nifo Oti. Universal themes such as love, choice, jealousy etc reinforce the humanity that connects the cultural divide.
It will be sung in German, by a cast that whose diverse heritages include Afro Carribean ,English, Hong Kong Chinese and Australian. Notably the cast boast the worlds FIRST Samoan Wagnerians appearing: Sani Muliaumaseali'i as Siegfried and Aivale Cole as the woodbird. Soprano Gweneth Ann Rand, ( 2001 Cardiff singer of world finalist, 4:48 Psychoisi ROH) returns as Brunnhilde.
