Programme Note

Our Spring concert is a programme entirely of late twentieth and early twenty-first century music - and is full of gorgeous, tuneful melodies and exciting harmonies.

Francis Poulenc was described by the critic Claude Rostand as "half monk and half naughty boy" and his Gloria exhibits admirably those two sides of his personality.

Bob Chilcott is one of the most popular current choral composers. His Requiem  is a beautiful work which demonstrates amply Chilcott’s deep love and understanding of choral singing.

Mark Harrison is an active member of our choir.  His Christmas cantata Jubilate Natale earned a standing ovation at our 2016 Christmas concert and we are thrilled to be able to sing his joyous setting of Psalm 150 - the Musicians’ Psalm - for this concert.
