Jonathan Delbridge Concert

With Special Guest Harry Hewson

Add to my Calendar 24-06-2023 15:00 24-06-2023 17:00 36 Jonathan Delbridge Concert Jonathan Delbridge is well known for his varied and interesting concert programmes.  He regularly performs at large and small venues from the Royal Albert Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall to the more intimate acoustic of St Mary’s Church in Seavington, which will perfectly suit this Regency Period Piano.  The programme will include music from the classical period and earlier, including Mozart's Rondo alla Turca from Sonata in AK331; second movement of Field's Sonata in A and Clementi's Sonata in F Op 26.  There will also be a guest appearance from one of Jonathan’s talented young pupils, Harry Hewson, who will join Jonathan in a piano duet.   St Mary’s Church in Seavington will be the venue for a unique afternoon of music as pianist Jonathan Delbridge performs a programme on his restored Broadwood Regency Period Square Piano dated from 1814. In the early 19th century the firm of Broadwood was one of the leading piano manufacturers in the world and the square piano was their best seller.  Sadly, many of these early pianos were either destroyed or made into items of furniture when the upright piano became the instrument of choice for the home from 1850 onwards.  However, early square pianos are now regularly restored as pianists value their delicate tone and the fact that these are the instruments many of our great Classical composers would have been familiar with.   St Mary's Church, Seavington St Mary DD/MM/YYYY
