Programme Note
The third stop on this escorted trip, inspired by Suffolk's own Saint Edmund, which will give guests the chance to explore some unsung gems, both great and small. They will discover two tiny remote churches in the Waveney Valley, plus England's third largest parish church and a right royal resting place, mighty St. Mary's in Bury St. Edmunds - and experience each one as it is coloured even more beautiful by the angelic sounds of Seraphim's voices.
Join the singers on this, their third special tour, and you will share in a sublime selection of a cappella and accompanied works, from early medieval chants and the haunting melodies of Hildegard to the modern mastery of living composers. You will learn of the mysteries and miracles surrounding a martyred young king, stand by the Hoxne spot where Danish arrows reputedly sealed his fate, and cross the bridge where he was bitterly betrayed; and in Bury St. Edmunds' Cathedral hear how pilgrims have revered him for centuries.
