Programme Note
Join The Ringers on the Green and Walsh Memorial Bell Choir for a concert of original works and arrangements for handbell ensemble.
From New Jersey, USA, this concert is part of the bellringers UK tour, and presents an exciting mix of traditional and modern works.
The Ringers on the Green, directed by Dr Matthew Webb, is an ensemble of high school students representing the music ministry of The Presbyterian Church in Morristown, New Jersey. The Ringers on the Green perform with six octaves of Schulmerich handbells and five octaves of Schulmerich handchimes. In its 51-year history, the group has performed in 40 states, Canada, Bermuda and Europe. The Ringers on the Green regularly lead in services of worship and perform for numerous New Jersey-based civic and religious organizations throughout the year.
The Walsh Memorial Bell Choir celebrates its 51st anniversary season this year, having been named in 1968 after the Reverand Joseph E Walsh of The Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains, where the ensemble is still based. Comprised of auditioned 6th-12th grade students from various communities in New Jersey, WMBC ringers tour annually and participate regularly in festivals, conferences, concerts, community outreach performances, and other events. Recent tours have included Switzerland, Myrtle Beach, and Disney World. In addition to touring nationally, the ensemble has also performed in Canada, Mexico, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
