Programme Note
Dorset County Orchestra under their principal conductor, Ian Pillow, present a programme of popular classical works in their Summer Concert in Swanage.
The overture to Mozart's Magic Flute , the Viennese equivalent of a Broadway Musical opens the programme.
Talented young, local cellist/composer George Owen, recently graduated with 1stClass Honours in music from Bristol University, is the soloist in Elgar's famous Cello Concerto, his last major orchestral work.
Dvorak's 6thSymphony, an interesting mix of Czech nationalism and tribute to Brahms that brought him international acclaim completes the programme
