Programme Note

Voxcetera chamber choir returns to the beautiful St. Michael's to perform Gabriel Fauré's much-loved, consoling masterpiece.

The concert will also feature sublime short works: Fauré's popular Cantique de Jean Racine; a selection from Gustav Holst's settings of ancient Indian sacred texts, Choral Hymns from the Rig Veda; and Henry Balfour Gardiner’s dramatic anthem Evening Hymn.

Audiences will also be treated to two evocative contemporary pieces, both using texts from the Song of Solomon: the hypnotic Northern Lights by Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo; and a sun-drenched love song, Quanto sei bella by frequent Voxcetera collaborator Paul Ayres.

A licensed bar will be open before the performance and during the interval.
