The Hermitage Ensemble

Programme Note

The Hermitage Ensemble comprises top Russian vocal virtuosi from St Petersburg, and have been performing their unique mixture of Orthodox chants and folk music, with some modern hits too, in churches across Europe for twenty years. Their sound has been described as "one moment like a Slavic barber shop quartet and the next like the massed ranks of the Red Army Choir".

The venue is the picturesque parish church of St Nicholas-at-Wade in Thanet, a beautiful Norman church famed for its excellent acoustics.
