Nursery Rhymes, Ghosts, Folk Tunes from the land of Dracula and a symphony praised as Beethoven's Tenth.
* Ravel's Mother Goose Suite The basis of the work is the 17th century collection of fairy tales known as ‘Mother Goose’. Ravel's score is beautiful, enchanting, simple and melodic
* Saint Saens Danse Macabre, theme to TV mystery crime drama,Jonathan Creek, was written in the early 1870s. . A whole narrative unfolds in the piece, with the violin representing death himself and the story starting at midnight.
* Bartok's Romanian Dances based on tunes from Transylvania, originally played on the fiddle or shepherd's flute.
* Brahms Symphony No 1which took him nearly 15 years to complete. Even at its premiere, he remained sceptical about whether anyone would like it. He had nothing to fear, a famous conductor at the time described this work as ‘Beethoven’s Tenth’. No greater compliment could have possibly been paid.
