Programme Note

Jonas Stonkus is a native of Lithuania. He started playing accordion at age seven. From ages fifteen to eighteen he studied at a regional conservatoire in Klaipeda and then progressed to the Lithuanian academy of music and theatre in the state capital Vilnius where he got bachelor’s degree in 2016.

Jonas participated in over 20 international competitions and festivals across Europe, also attended over 40 masterclasses with professors from all over the world, in 2014 was awarded by president of Lithuania for international achievements. Jonas has moved to England to further his musical career where he tries to show versatility of this incredible yet under looked instrument.
