Programme Note

Thames Youth Orchestra's Spring term concert brings an all Rachmaninov repertoire to St. Paul's WImbledon Parkside, conducted by Simon Ferris.

The concert will feature the dark, dramatic symphonic poem "The Isle of the Dead" op. 29 and the stunning Symphony no.2 op,27, both written during the Dresden period of Rachaninov's career, which saw a revitalization of the composer's work after the succes of his 2nd Piano Concerto, op.18.

The concert will begin at 7:30pm, will have an interval for snacks and refreshments, and is scheduled for a runtime of 95 minutes.
