There is unmistakeable connectivity and inter-action – immensely more than in a conventional recital. Unreserved seating In the Round (doors open at 3.30), Mystery Music Spot, Ask A Question, cafe-bar refreshments, and secret surprises, not just musical. Rhythmie Wong is from Hong Kong and was one of the three finalist at the 2018 Sussex International Piano Competition in Worthing and this concert is part of her prize. The frisson she created in the Competition continues going into this appearance, just with one look at her imaginative and richly atmospheric programme. She will perform music from two Spanish piano music masterpieces, two big transcriptions of great orchestral pieces, and Haydn’s final and probably most masterly Piano Sonata, in which we will experience Rhythmie’s innate flair of this composer, including his humour.
