St Matthew Passion is the towering masterpiece of Bach’s Leipzig period. It is immediately clear from the scoring and dimensions of this extraordinary work that Bach’s intention was to surpass anything yet written.
Since 1727, Bach's ‘Great Passion’ has gripped the hearts and uplifted the spirits of audiences all over the globe. Don’t miss what promises to be a dramatic and moving evening’s choral music.
Our concert also features the highly acclaimed Orchestra of Stowe Opera, talented soloists from the Royal Academy and Royal College of Music, and London-based The Renaissance Singers. The concert will be conducted by Julian Mann, Musical Director of Buckingham Choral Society.
