Programme Note

Buckingham Choral Society’s Spring 2018 Concert, conducted by Julian Mann, BCS Musical Director, features a programme of popular Mozart Classics including the ‘Great Mass’ in C minor (K. 427), Exsultate, jubilate (K. 165) and the Piano Concerto on A Major, no. 23 (K488).

The ‘Great Mass’ is often described as Mozart’s masterpiece. It was later followed by the equally popular Requiem, his last work, but which were both never fully completed by Mozart himself. Magnificent and moving, the Great Mass in C minor features many dramatic choral parts as well as beautiful and moving solos and arias.

The absolutely gorgeous Exsultate, jubilate, will be performed by soprano, Isabelle Morgan. The Piano Concerto in A Major, no. 23 (K488), considered to be one of Mozart’s best concertos, showcases the Society’s very talented Repetiteur and pianist, Kevin Vockerodt.

The concert also features the highly acclaimed Orchestra of Stowe Opera, together with young talented soloists from the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music and the Royal Academy of Music.
