Tonbridge Music Club opens its 2026–27 Season with the electrifying Elmore Quartet. Their programme charts the development of the string quartet across three centuries, moving from classical wit to modern colour and invention.
Haydn’s String Quartet Op. 33 No. 1 begins the evening with its bright, conversational style, followed by Frank Bridge’s An Irish Melody (Londonderry Air), a brief moment of calm and lyricism. Leo Geyer’s Unfurling brings a contemporary voice to the programme, its compact form unfolding with rhythmic and textural drive. The concert closes with Ravel’s String Quartet, a work of striking clarity and colour.
A vibrant, wide-ranging opening to the season from one of the UK’s most compelling young ensembles.
