Programme Note

Pinsuti have planned a dreamy selection of summer music, featuring choral works spanning four centuries.

The concert will include some fabulous examples of Eric Whitacre’s choral writing, ranging from the sacred “Lux Aurumque”, his “Alleluia” and “Sleep” to the quite unique “Leonardo dreams of his Flying Machine”. Whitacre's music is both utterly modern and wonderfully tuneful, a delight to the ear.

We revisit three of Paul Mealor’s quartet of songs “Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal” along with items by Sandström and Mäntyjärvi, and introduce two works by Ešenvalds. Lovers of early music will enjoy a set of cheerful madrigals.

Finally, no summer concert would be complete without some old favourites such as “Blue Moon” and “Over the Rainbow”.

We hope you will come and join us for our concert in a delightful setting on the edge of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
