Duo Melus are an exciting flute and piano duo bringing a sophisticated and friendly approach to known and unknown repertoire in performance. Duo Melus was formed in 2019 by two distinguished London-based instrumentalists, flautist Katie Taunton and pianist Jack Redman. In November 2023 they made their debut at Wigmore Hall and in 2024 became City Music Foundation Artists.
Jack and Katie individually maintain active freelance careers. Jack was a 2022/2023 Oxford Song Young Artist and a finalist in the 2023 Kathleen Ferrier Awards. He has been repetiteur for a range of productions, including Handel’s Semele (2023) and Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro (2025) for Glyndebourne Festival Opera. Katie is an academist with the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Orchestra and is an Open Academy Fellow at the Royal Academy of Music. She is supported by the Royal Philharmonic Society Julius Isserlis scholarship. Both are graduates of the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music where their training included mentorship from renowned flautists Emily Beynon and Anna Noakes, and esteemed pianist Michael Dussek.
