Programme Note
Whitehall Choir will perform beautiful seasonal music at their ever-popular carol concert. Alongside favourite carols such as Harold Darke’s In the Bleak Midwinter, they will sing some less known music including There is no Rose by Alison Willis and Summer is Gone by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. The concert will also feature an arrangement by Roxanna Panufnik of a Ukrainian carol, alongside Carol of the Bells by Mykola Leontovych and the poem Folk Scene by Ivan Malkovych. The beautiful collage on our flyer, “Into the World” by Lyubov Panchenko hangs in the Ukrainian Sixtiers Dissident Movement Museum in Kiev. Sadly the artist died earlier this year during the Russian occupation of Bucha.
Our Christmas concert not only gives the opportunity to reflect but also to celebrate the joy of the season and for members of the audience to join in with their favourite carols.
