Programme Note

David Willcocks, John Tavener, Judith Weir, Elizabeth Poston, Michael Praetorius, Kenneth Leighton, John Joubert, John Gardner, Samuel Scheidt and audience carols.

Whitehall Choir presents a festive programme of Christmas music from across 400 years. From two 16th-century composers - Michael Praetorius's 'A great and mighty wonder' and Samuel Scheidt's 'A Child is born in Bethlehem’ - through to 20th-century favourites such as David Willcocks's arrangement of 'Deck the Hall' and carols by John Tavener and Elizabeth Poston, there is something for everyone. Get in the Christmas spirit by joining in with the audience carols and enjoying a selection of Christmas poems.
