Programme Note

Whitehall Choir will perform a beautiful programme of British choral music which they shared on tour in Utrecht in May. In addition, they will perform pieces by the Renaissance composer Jacobus Clemens non Papa, who was probably born in the Netherlands but spent much of his life in Flanders.

The British music in the programme is an eclectic mix, from Tallis via Purcell to Elgar and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor; from contemporary composers Rebecca Dale and Oliver Tarney to Michael Higgins. We have an exciting new commission being written for us by Michael Higgins and we’ll be giving the UK premiere at this concert.

We’ll also feature the thrilling Coronation Te Deum by William Walton which was performed so magnificently at the Coronation last year.

We’re looking forward to sharing this beautiful choral music with you, followed by refreshments after the concert to celebrate the end of a joyful season.

Stunning choral music from Britain and the Netherlands
