Programme Note

J. S. Bach’s monumental Mass in B Minor will be performed on Wednesday 27 March at 7.15pm in St Peter’s Church, Harrogate.  Taking part will be the Choir of St. Peter's Church, Vocalis Chamber Choir (director Alex Kyle), the Harrogate Bach Players (leader Fiona Love) and Alan Horsey (organ) in Bach’s outstanding final masterpiece, conducted by John Longstaff, the Director of Music at St. Peter’s Church.

The professional soloists for this unmissable performance are Eleonore Cockerham (soprano), previously part of the ensemble Voces 8 and now much in demand as a solo singer; Heather Lowe (mezzo-soprano) pictured, currently singing Dorabella in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte for Opera North, with whom she regularly appears; Emma Carrington (alto) who has worked in opera and concert venues across the world; James Mickethwaite (tenor), originally from Leeds, now London-based and in demand both as a soloist and ensemble singer; and Andrew Greenan (bass) the internationally renowned opera singer.
