On December 5th the Addison Singers, the Brandenburg Sinfonia and four first-class soloists perform one of the most iconic of all choral works, George Frederick Handel’s oratorio ‘Messiah’. Handel wrote ‘Messiah’ in just over three weeks – an incredible achievement, even for Handel, who was used to writing quickly to meet the demands of theatrical performances. First performed in Dublin in April 1742, after a cool reception in London the year after, ‘Messiah’ has since become the most performed choral work in Western music, the lyrical arias and vibrant choruses, loved by generations of singers and audiences. What better possible upbeat can there be to the Christmas season?
Tickets in advance £13, concessions £11, under 16's £3 from http://www.wegottickets.com/f/9387, or £16 / £13 / £3 on the door. The conductor & Musical Director is David Wordsworth.
