Programme Note
A delightful selection of French music for a summer evening. Ravel and Debussy are generally regarded as the greatest impressionist composers, and Fauré is sometimes described as the originator of impressionist music. Gounod's first symphony, written in 1855, is a lively, energetic work, full of attractive melodies and genial good humour.
