We look forward to returning to the stunning setting of St Peter's Church for the last concert of our season. We are particularly excited about working with another established young performer, Amalia Young. She is the soloist in Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No 1, first performed a century ago last year. The concert begins with Tchaikovsky's overture inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet: a threefold portrait of Friar Laurence, the warring Capulets & Montagues, and finally the star-crossed lovers themselves. We finish the season with Shostakovich's dark and dramatic 5th Symphony.
