Programme Note
The Renaissance Choir presents "Autumn leaves", a diverse and evocative selection of works that explores themes of nature, reflection, and spirituality.
A diverse and evocative selection of works that explores themes of nature, reflection, and spirituality.
The works traverse the centuries from the Renaissance through the Romantic period to contemporary compositions. Each piece offers its own unique sound world, capturing the beauty and complexity of both the human voice and the autumn season.
Much of the programme comes from the late romantic period – a time when soundscapes were a little like Monet’s “Lily” paintings. Gentle and evocative music will bring to mind walks through copper and russet-coloured leaves on woodland floors, or recall the quieter dawn period, when the birdsong of spring and summer is fading into distant memory.
