Programme Note
The nine angelic-voiced Seraphs invite you to immerse yourself in their musical “Celebration and Meditation”. Stirring and serene music for Advent and Christmastide will be by composers as diverse as the medieval Hildegard of Bingen, locally-based Imogen Holst, and living composer Eric Whitacre. Excitingly, there will also be the Suffolk premiere of the hauntingly beautiful “A Mother’s Prayer”, written this year especially for Seraphim by Laura Folley, who was recently declared free from having had breast cancer and writes:
“During my year-long treatment I was inspired by Seraphim’s angelic female voices to write a song for my daughter, praying that guardian angels would watch over her no matter what the future held. The connection between being a mother, female voices, Seraphim and the prayer for the well-being of my child was a fantastic boost to my creative energy.”
International respected artists and London music professors Anna Noakes (flute) and Gabriella Dall’Olio (harp), will also weave their musical magic, enhancing Seraphim’s sounds as well as providing their own sublime solo moments.
