Programme Note

Paul Spicer writes:

"Our Summer programme is a celebration of all things French from the early 16th-century to modern times.

The great discovery here is the music of Dominique Phinot from the mid-1500s, whose passionate outpourings affect all who hear and perform it. Poulenc, Duruflé and Pierre Villette form a triumvirate of 20th-century French masters, all with keenly personal idioms.

And then there is Fauré! It is always one of the great musical experiences to sing his peerless Requiem. We know you will enjoy it too!"

This concert is also being performed in Pershore Abbey, 17 June 2017. See http://www.birmingham.bachchoir.com for details.
