Add to my Calendar 30-03-2019 19:30 30-03-2019 21:30 36 Music for Passiontide The heart of Music for Passiontide lies in two twentieth century masterpieces, Leighton's Crucifixus Pro Nobis - our conductor, Paul Spicer, as a chorister at New College Oxford, sang in its first performance in 1962 - and Howells' extraordinary Requiem, which although written in 1932 was kept as a personal document until 1980 when it was published. Some beautiful early music opens the programme and we will conclude with J S Bach's moving Ruht Wohl from St John Passion. This will be a memorable concert for us, not least because it begins our Centenary Celebrations, and we are sure it will be equally so for you too. The heart of Music for Passiontide lies in two twentieth century masterpieces, Leighton's Crucifixus Pro Nobis - our conductor, Paul Spicer, as a chorister at New College Oxford, sang in its first performance in 1962 - and Howells' extraordinary Requiem, which although written in 1932 was kept as a personal document until 1980 when it was published.
