Programme Note

Reflective choral music for Passiontide from the 16th to the 20th centuries, featuring major works by Sir Edward Bairstow, including a previously unknown setting of 40 Days and 40 Nights, the manuscript found in the archives at Blackburn Library.  The hymn has an outrageously spectacular organ accompaniment, to be played by John Hosking.
