Programme Note

The vibrant music of George Gershwin is interwoven with his fascinating life story from birth in the colourful, teeming New York of 1898 to his tragically early death in 1937.

Join Viv McLean, piano and Susan Porrett, narrator for an intriguing, eclectic mix of Gershwin’s music from the much-loved 'Rhapsody in Blue', 'I got Rhythm Variations' and 'Swanee' to the rarely-played, classical Preludes.

“Vividly illustrated.....highly recommended.”

"Terrific!"

In addition to enjoying fabulous music, guests will have the opportunity to explore The Cinema Museum, a unique collection of artefacts, memorabilia and equipment that preserves the history and grandeur of cinema from the 1890s to the present day.
