One of the world’s most sought-after tenors, Ian Bostridge, joins the finest period instrumentalists and singers of Armonico Consort to sing the role of the Evangelist in Bach’s masterpiece.
In St John Passion, Bach combines exquisitely beautiful arias with moments of dramatic choral intensity in this fast-paced retelling of the Passion story.
Ian Bostridge has been described as “the most iconic Evangelist of the last twenty years … an incomparable communicator, a singer of technical brilliance, and an impassioned, experienced interpreter of Bach’s music” (Opera Today).
Armonico Consort is directed by Christopher Monks, founder of the critically-acclaimed choir and period instrument group, which is this year celebrating its 20th anniversary.
