An evening of choral magnificence with APO and Tamesis Choir

Add to my Calendar 14-10-2017 19:30 14-10-2017 21:30 36 An evening of choral magnificence with APO and Tamesis Choir On 14th October, Aldworth Philharmonic Orchestra (APO) and Tamesis Chamber Choir reunite for a performance that promises to be even more exciting than the epic Mahler 2 they performed to a delighted audience last year. The Great Hall at Reading University is a fitting venue for a night of beautiful, majestic choral music, starting with the excitement and elation of ‘Toward the Unknown Region’ by Ralph Vaughan Williams and the dramatic intensity of ‘Tod und Verklärung (Death and Transfiguration), by Richard Strauss. Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna is a classic of new American choral writing, with old world structures and new works spirit intertwining, at once sensuous and spare. The exhilarating evening finishes with the challenging, exciting Chichester Psalms, written by Leonard Bernstein eight years after West Side Story. Full of the jazzy rhythms that characterise his music, Chichester Psalms is a musical depiction of Bernstein’s hope for brotherhood and peace. Join us at The Great Hall, University of Reading (London Road Campus) Reading University at 7.30pm for an evening of amazing choral and orchestral music. We really love classical music, and believe that the sight and sound of a live orchestra and choir is something to behold. If you’ve never attended a live classical performance, you can see this one FREE through our Concert Virgin scheme. Tickets are £15 for adults (£13 concessions, £8 children), with a £3 discount on these prices for EARLY BIRD tickets, purchased before 30th September. Buy your tickets from www.aldworthphilharmonic.org.uk/next-concert, where Concert Virgins can also register for their FREE tickets. Great Hall - Reading University, Reading DD/MM/YYYY
