During the 17th & 18th centuries the upstairs room of a Tavern, or Music House as it was then known, was the venue for the first public concerts. On Wednesday evenings in October the Holly Bush will be presenting music in the beautiful Romney Room performed on baroque instruments by Saraband. Book in for a pre-show supper, including 18th century ’specials’,

Saraband are joined by Ballad-monger Robert Maskell for an evening exploring the lives and travails of 18th century Ladies, Actresses and Courtesans through music, stories and verse. Music by Handel, Arne, Niel Gow, and tunes from the Beggars Opera. Words from Jonathan Swift, Lady Mary Wortley Montagu, Charlotte Charke, Tom D’Urfey.
