Programme Note
New London Singers is thrilled to announce its 60th-anniversary concert, titled "Journeys." This remarkable musical event will take audiences on an unforgettable voyage through time and emotions, celebrating the themes of exile, traveling composers, voyage, and homecoming through the power of choral music.
The choir will be led by Jamie Powe, a renowned conductor and graduate of the Royal Academy of Music.
The concert promises to be an evening of exquisite melodies, harmonious storytelling, and an opportunity to reflect on the profound human experiences that connect us all. "Journeys" is not just a celebration of NLS’s six-decade-long existence but a tribute to the universal experiences of displacement, exploration, and the sweet relief of returning home.
In this milestone concert, NLS will showcase a diverse selection of compositions from various periods and regions, masterfully crafted by composers who have embarked on their own personal journeys. These composers, often in exile or seeking inspiration through travel, have left an indelible mark on the world of music.
