Programme Note
“Back in the early 70s, a group of children on Teesside began to passionately study quartets by Bartók and Beethoven, the start of a lifetime commitment which became the magnificent Brodsky Quartet. At exactly the same time, as a 12-year-old at YMS, I was throwing myself with equal enthusiasm into learning those same quartets under the inspiring tutelage of Peter Norris. I knew then that my musical life would be centred around this wonderful and enriching repertoire. Now, fifty years later, I’m thrilled to have joined the dream team of the Brodskys, with all of our original enthusiasm undimmed. We look forward to this exciting collaboration with YMS, hoping that chamber music and quartet playing will give the students as much joy as it continues to give us.” Krysia Osostowicz
