Different religions and cultures form the inspiration for the work: the Muslim call to prayer, war poetry and Japanese haiku sit alongside texts from the traditional mass. Its captivating Benedictus, brooding Sanctus and heavenly choral accompaniment have entranced audiences and choral societies ever since and The Armed Man continues to convey a powerful message for world peace.
