Mad Song explore repetition in a wide-ranging programme cultivating in Steve Reich's iconic Double Sextet.
Join Mad Song at Highgate's The Red Hedgehog for an evening exploring repetition in the music of six living composers. The varied programme presents the wide range of contemporary aesthetic styles, spanning Finnissy's (b. 1946) modernist Banumbirr to Steve Reich's (b. 1936) iconic Double Sextet.
The influence of Reich's pioneering minimalism makes itself felt strongly in the work of Mazzoli (b. 1980) and Muhly (b. 1981). Meanwhile, the programme is completed with recent works from two younger voices: Kai Kubota-Enright (b. 2000) and Isabella Gellis (b. 1997).
