Programme Note

The Westminster-based chamber choir Cantandum, renowned for the quality of its vocal sound, returns for a free concert featuring a wonderful selection of music including the rarely-heard but magnificent Missa Dolorosa by Antonio Caldara (c.1670-1736), as well as pieces by Heinrich Schutz (1585-1672), Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847), and Josef Gabriel Rheinberger (1839-1901).

The concert will take place at the Guards’ Chapel (officially the Royal Military Chapel), a remarkable venue that was rebuilt after the Second World War. The Byzantine-style apse survived an incendiary bomb and is a notable focus of this majestic, monumental sanctuary.

Admission free, with a retiring collection towards the Chapel.

The concert will last about an hour.
