Programme Note
Allington Strings Winter Concert, features music from Austria and Germany. Mark Westwood-Gould conducts and the orchestra are delighted to welcome renowned local pianist Jonathon Delbridge as the soloist in Mozart's Coronation Concerto.
Jonathan is well known for his exciting and varied concert programmes on both the piano and organ. Based in South Somerset, he performs at a wide range of small and large venues from the Royal Albert Hall and York Minster, to Plymouth University and the parish church in his own village.
The programme opens with Beethoven's Egmont Overture in a novel arrangement for string orchestra, followed by Webern's 'Langsamer Satz'. Mozart takes us to the interval, after which the main work is Bruch's Serenade on Swedish Folk Melodies. Then Brahms Hungarian Dances 5 and 6 bring the concert to a spirited close.
