Part of the Leeds International Chamber Series 2026/27, In the Shadows of Giants.
Two much-loved works by Beethoven frame the programme: his playful variations on ‘Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen’ from The Magic Flute, and the expansive third Cello Sonata. Between them come three composers who deserve to be heard far more often. Henriëtte Bosmans’ Impressions are full of atmosphere; Avet Terterian’s Cello Sonata has intensity and raw expression; and Martinů’s Arabesques sparkle with rhythmic life and wit.
