Add to my Calendar 17-09-2017 19:30 17-09-2017 21:30 36 Sandstorm, by Dana Al Fardan, Performed by the London Metropolitan Orchestra Following a critically acclaimed preview of her work, performed by the Peace and Prosperity Trust at London’s Cadogan Hall last year, Dana Al Fardan presents her latest work, Sandstorm, at the Theatre Royal Haymarket this September. This rare programme of the Qatari composer’s interpretation of contemporary classical music will be performed by the London Metropolitan Orchestra (LMO), conducted by Musical Director, Andy Brown, enriched by a brief narrative setting the scene of the score. Sandstorm is the latest album by the Arabic songwriter, composer and symphonic artist, and blends rich strings, choral vocals and soloists with traditional Middle Eastern rhythms. Dana represents the Qatari woman of 2017, proud to present her country’s culture to the world, building its music industry from within the nation, having founded the country’s only record label, DNA Records. She hopes to promote the human face of her people, a nationality whose culture is little known. The LMO is an ensemble of world-class musicians that has been engaged by all the major Hollywood studios and worldwide record labels for over 20 years. On 17th September, the curtain will rise on the orchestra performing a full programme of a unique interpretation of World music for the first time to an international audience for one night only.
