Programme Note
The Albanian born Gjylaci brothers are a young and charismatic violin and guitar duo. They are graduates of the Royal Northern College of Music and have performed in many major concert venues and music festivals across the UK and Europe. Their repertoire includes music from all around the world and across all genres. Their entertaining programmes, presentations and performances have earned them great acclaim. The duo regularly collaborate with living British composers and commission new works in order to broaden the violin and guitar repertoire.
Recently they gave the world premiere performances of ‘Prelude & Fugue’ and ‘2 Fantasias’ by Ray Kohn as well as the UK premiere of Albanian Folksong ‘My Beautiful Morea’ by Thomas Simaku.
Esen-Nikolas is the founder & leader of the award winning Northern String Quartet and he regularly tours around the UK and abroad. Whilst Jon’s busy schedule sees him perform as a soloist across the country. Jon has also performed live on BBC Radio 3 and has received great reviews from the Classical Guitar Magazine and The Guardian.
They are excited to perform in Threlkeld and their recital programme will include works by Paganini, Piazzolla, de Falla, Giuliani & Simaku.
