Programme Note

On 9th July Naomi Butcher will lead Tonbridge Philharmonic Society’s orchestra and choir into the final concert of the 2021-2022 season.

Whatever the weather, the Society will fill a summer’s evening with wonderful American music from the twentieth century.

Come and tap your feet to Fascinating Rhythm, take a peak Over the Rainbow, spend the time enjoying Tea For Two, and then look out for a Blue Moon as the sun goes down. There are more songs that you will recognise before we get to Copland’s Appalachian Spring, evoking the countryside and an America that may still be found if you go hunting for it.

This is optimistic and upbeat music to help us celebrate the summer, and we are sure you will leave the Chapel convinced that the choir were correct when they sang I Got Rhythm, and maybe persuaded to sing Let’s Do It to yourself when you next face a challenge!
