It is an intensely personal work full of moments of tenderness and sorrow. It was later described by Brahms as a ‘human requiem’ with its emphasis on consoling the living rather than mourning the dead. This concert celebrates the 30th anniversary of the collaboration between Tonbridge Philharmonic Society and Evangelisches Kantorei Heusenstamm. We will be welcoming 30 members of the Kantorei to perform for this concert of friendship. The soloists for the evening will be Rhian Lois (soprano) and Jonathan McGovern (baritone). Conducting the combined forces will be Michael Waldron, in his second appearance with Tonbridge Philharmonic Society this season.
