Programme Note

Following its hugely successful inaugural New Year concert, Truro Choral Society is returning to Truro Cathedral on New Year’s Day to see in 2018 with a choral and orchestral extravaganza full of popular works.

The mixed programme will include Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus and Zadok the Priest, as well as Borodin’s rousing Polovtsian Dances. The choir will be accompanied by Truro Symphony Orchestra, who will also be performing Strauss’s Radetzky March and Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite (five movements). Paul Comeau will play the first and second movements of Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 and Russell Pascoe’s joyous 2012 composition for the choir, Music!, will close the evening.

Come and join the choir and musicians for an evening of celebration in the Viennese style. The earlier start time means audience members of all ages will have the opportunity to be part of the fun, too.
