Programme Note
A light-hearted revue-style treatment of some well-loved baroque operatic music, from two accomplished performers ably accompanied by Duncan Reid on piano and keyboard. Linda Grace and Janet Forbes make this 'cabaret opera' highly accessible, with lively and entertaining dialogue that imparts universal appeal. This duo will surprise, delight and move you with their voices. They bring fun to some of the world's most stunning and well-loved music of all time.
Synopsis: A singer is looking for love. Her soprano friend is not much help, and just may be casting spells behind her back. The piano player doesn't care. There is a cat fight or two, and a sing-off, and the audience is invited to join in one of the songs.
Janet Forbes has impeccable credentials as an early music specialist, having shared a stage with internationally renowned musicians such as Maggie Faultless and Christina Pluhar. Coloratura mezzo soprano Linda Grace more than does justice to Vivaldi's virtuoso aria: Nel profondo, cieco mondo. The final duet, Handel's Tanti strali, is a real show-stopper.
