Add to my Calendar 06-11-2021 12:00 06-11-2021 14:00 36 Once Upon a Tune The Sheffield Philharmonic is thrilled to announce that the orchestra will be joined by acclaimed Illustrator, author, concert presenter and storyteller, James Mayhew to launch their 76th annual concert season (and first concert appearance since March 2020!).  The Orchestra will present a special concert for children and families to celebrate the publication of James' new book, Once Upon a Tune: Stories from the Orchestra Once Upon a Tune brings you six wonderful stories from many lands, all of which inspired great music.  You can battle trolls with Peer Gynt if you go In The Hall of the Mountain King; grapple with a magic broom in The Sorcerer's Apprentice, sail the seven seas with Sinbad the Sailor in Scheherazade; be a prince disguised as a bee in The Flight of the Bumblebee and become a fearless hero in William Tell. The stories will be brought to life live to the music by James, who is famous for bringing live classical music, art and storytelling to families across the UK.James will be doing a book signing after each performance and you can purchase a copy of Once Upon a Tune with your tickets for this concert for £9.99 (RRP £16.99).   Notes: - Tickets for children under 18 months are FREE and we recommend our family concerts are most suitable for children aged 4-10 years.  There are baby changing facilities at the venue, and we will have a dedicated space to store prams/buggies. - The venue is wheelchair accessible, but if you have any queries about accessibility please email: sheffieldphilharmonicorchestra@gmail.com in advance.  Likewise, if you require programs in large print we are happy to arrange this, however, we will need at least 7 days' notice. - We will be recording the 12pm performance of this concert.  If you are not happy for your child's image to be captured on film, please bring this to the attention of the ticketing staff on entry.  If you have any questions concerning this please email: sheffieldphilharmonicorchestra@gmail.com in advance. - We understand that there is a lot of information to take in about concerts and events relating to Coronavirus and you may have some questions. We will be making a few changes to ensure the safety of audiences and we will be emailing audience members with information about any necessary mitigations closer to the event.
